Do you have a high-energy dog at home alone while you work? Is your canine companion crawling the walls, aching to burn off some of that pent up vitality? Vigorous hikes are now available for your high-activity canine, from Alicia Erskine (formerly from, and recently returned home to, Sooke).
Alicia Erskine, owner of two cattle dogs Kona and Cali, owns and operates West Coast Heeler Pack. This new business was the recipient of a 2016 Business Excellence Award. As a nomination read, “Amazing service and super devoted to making sure the Dogs of Sooke are hiked throughout Sooke’s beautiful mountains. Along with professional photography this company does it ALL!”
After working eight years for one of our municipalities, and being in a pedestrian/car accident, it was time to close the door on one part of her life and open a new one. In June 2016, Alicia started West Coast Heeler Pack K9 Adventures, taking dogs on hikes while their owners are at work.
Alicia has two cattle dogs of her own, Kona and Cali. They accompany her on all of the hikes. Aside from being full-time models constantly on the trails, they are both Master Log Jumpers, Champion Stick Chewers and Casual Wave Riders.
These 1.5 to two hour long hikes are capped at six dogs (excluding her’s). These hikes are best suited for the dogs that have more energy to burn, that need more than a 30 minute walk. All breeds are welcome, and they must have recall (trained to the command, “come”).
Packed with water and a first aid kit, Alicia also takes photos of the hikes. Sometimes even videos. Transportation to and from the day’s destination includes doggie “seat belts” so your canine friend stays safe and comfortable.
