In case you missed it, here’s a video from Global about a lego-inspired harmless home being built in Sooke. The building blocks are made of hemp, lime and water. It’s fireproof and eco-friendly, and owner Arno Keinonen hopes to move in by spring.
An SPN reader added this little tidbit: “Arno’s Harmless Home is part of Sooke Ecohome Tour 2017 next Saturday, 11 am to 3 pm. He’ll be offering a shuttle service from roadside parking on East Sooke Road to the building site via his Tesla.”
- Sooke’s second ecohome-tour scheduled
- Free seminar: Affordable Homeownership
- West Wind Harbour: Sooke’s Second Cohousing Development
- Sooke’s best kept secret: A senior cohousing community with 31 units sets a Canadian standard
Since you’re here, we have a small favour to ask.
At 1.7 million page views over the past year, more people than ever are reading SPN. We had hoped advertising local services and events would sustain this service, but that has not come to pass. Advertising revenues are falling; status quo is unsustainable. Readers, please consider a small monthly donation. This can help secure the future of SPN. Business owners: Please consider an ad. More than massive local exposure, you will also be affiliated with an independent business that is 100% local, 99% paperless, and highly valued by the 98%. That’s priceless.
Thank you for your continued readership.
