[sam id=”15″ codes=”true”]Since 2003, the Sooke Co-operative Association of Services Agencies (CASA) and the grass roots Sooke Region Community Health Initiative (SRCHI) have worked together to benefit the Sooke Region from Port Renfrew to Beecher Bay. The two have merged their resources and have officially changed its name to Sooke Region Communities Health Network (SRCHN), retaining its co-operative and charitable status.
It was acknowledged the organization had outgrown its “initiative” status and it wished to be more aligned with its sister Vancouver Island Communities Health Networks.
In conjunction with this merger the organization has new Mission and Vision statements:
- Our Vision is “Healthy Communities in the Sooke Region”
- Our Mission is “To support healthy lives in health communities through innovative, collaborative development and improvement of services for everyone”
“We look forward to working with the Sooke Region’s communities to identify existing service gaps and help improve service accessibility,” Rick Robinson, SRCHN Board Chair.
SRCHN has worked to create a strong partnership of groups concerned with serving Sooke Region communities and promoting health and wellness. SRCHN has many individual participants who volunteer their time and have effectively had a significant beneficial impact across dimensions of health and social care in our region. The organization will continue to honor all of its service agreements, including with the District of Sooke.
With the new name, there will be a rebranding. SRCHN will announce a logo contest in the near future in which community members are encouraged come forward with ideas. The winning contestant will receive a gift card from any local retailer.
