As creators of stories authors know how important it is to get the character, setting and plot right. Branding and promoting yourself as a writer is a similar process.
The Sooke Writers’ Collective meeting on April 1st (6:30 p.m., at the Sooke Library) will feature tips and ideas to create and promote the story about an important character — yourself! The discussion will include:
- Thoughts on branding yourself and your work (creating and building your reputation)
- Engaging with your audience (readers, professional contacts, influencers)
- Promotional tactics and channels (e.g. social media, blogging, email and the good old-fashioned ways that still work)
Branding and Promoting Yourself as a Writer will be delivered by Doni Eve. Doni has a “lifelong passion for promoting the people, places and spirit of our awesome community.” She contributes her marketing and communications expertise to Saseenos Communications, a volunteer service dedicated to helping Sooke-region artists, volunteer organizations and small and home-based business share their stories — for free!
