Islanders urged to conserve water — 1 Comment

  1. This measure applies to Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands where water levels at the end of summer are always a problem to ensure sufficient flows for salmon spawning streams. The CRD water source is Sooke Lake which is at 77.7%, slightly below the five year average high at this time of year. We continue with stage 1 restrictions which have been in place since May. There is no need for drastic changes to water use in the CRD given we are NOT faced with the same drought conditions being faced by the rest of the Island and the Gulf Islands.
