Sooke is a growing community, well known for music, arts and crafts. So you might be glad to hear that there is a new music store in our town centre. The owner Jeff Noyes is well known for teaching guitar in Sooke for many years and you may have seen him perform in or around town. Jeff often spends his day off singing and playing guitar at places like Western Foods and many of the cafes and other businesses that support local music.
Jeff opened Oceanside Music Center located at 6596 Sooke Rd. In November 2014, providing music lessons and music accessories. Oceanside Music Center is offering music lessons in the afternoons and evenings for all ages.
Jeff also plans to provide a small 24 track recording studio for local musicians in the near future. This would allow local musicians to record their music at a much lower rate and not have to travel into Victoria to get something professionally recorded.
“We hope to be able to provide lessons for piano and violin soon as well,” said Jeff.
If you are a qualified piano or violin instructor, you might want to give them a call.
Oceanside Music Center is open Monday to Friday with plans to be open on weekends in the summer. Jeff has plans to host music events including open mic jams at the studio, and local concerts in and around the Sooke area. If you are interested in promoting a local music event or meeting other local musicians Oceanside Music Center provides a bulletin board for posting and offers ticket sales and promotions for local events.
[sam_ad id=”23″ codes=”true”]Jeff also writes and records his own music and has produced two full length albums so far with a third album in the works. Most recently, Jeff secured a deal with Delinquent Records in Vancouver to promote the upcoming album entitled “Are You In Control ?” and he hopes to have it publicly available through iTunes as well as on CD and Vinyl Records by the set release date June 15 2015.
