The improvements on the highly-student traversed intersection of Church and Throup have still not been completed. Improvements began on September 23, 2016, and it completion was then targeted for October 7.
As per the District’s 2016 media release, work to be completed included:
- Extending a portion of culvert;
- Adding a manhole;
- Widening the road shoulder;
- Installing asphalt sidewalk on Church Road connecting to Throup Road.
“My understanding on the Throup/Church area is that the line painting was not completed, along with other line painting projects within the municipality,” said Mayor Tait in an email to Sooke PocketNews. “The contractor has us in the queue to complete this, hopefully soon.”
As of mid August, 2017, there are still no painted lines delineating the road from the sidewalk.
School begins again on September 5, 2016.
