[sam id=”15″ codes=”true”]On 31 October 2015, the Sooke Midget A Ice Hockey Team — The Thunderbirds — will host Powell River in the home opener of the regular season at SEAPARC in Sooke, BC.
The puck drops at 5:00 p.m.
This is a great opportunity to come out and support our local ice hockey team before beginning the Halloween celebration, in whatever way is chosen — such as Safe Halloween and its fireworks at 8 p.m. at Sooke Municipal Hall and John Phillips Park.
The game is free to attend and open to the public, especially residents of Sooke. Great fun for the entire family! Fans of the Sooke team are encouraged to bring towels to wave — dark blue or white in color, the colors of the Sooke team. There may be a drum or horn or two that shows up as well to celebrate our ice hockey team for hits, goals or saves. Residents of Sooke are encourage to come out to support Sooke’s premier ice hockey team, the Midget A Thunderbirds.
These team of 15 – 17 year olds is Sooke’s senior ice hockey team. Last year the team won the bronze medal at the Provincials. This year promises to be an exciting time as well as the team eyes the gold in the annual tournament to be held on the Suncoast in March of 2016.
This year’s roster of elite players can be found here. Recently the team had a few players join junior teams, and other current team members are Alternative Players (AP) for local junior teams as well.
The Sooke Minor Hockey Association offers excellent opportunities for having fun and developing in ice hockey for ages 6 to 17, from Novice through Midget levels. Contact the Association if your daughter or son is interested in playing ice hockey.
