If you enjoy music and singing in harmony with others, consider joining the Sooke Philharmonic Chorus during the 2017-2018 season. New members are welcome.
Nicholas Fairbank, Chorus Director, is seeking additional male and female voices in all four sections: soprano, alto, tenor and bass. The Chorus usually numbers about 35-40 participants.
Make new friends who share your interest in music and enjoy making music together.
There are no formal auditions. The ability to read musical scores is an advantage but not necessary. This is an adult chorus.
The time commitment is not onerous. Practice begins in early September and continues every Saturday morning thereafter, usually 10:30-12:30, in nearby Sooke or Colwood locations. As concert dates approach, additional rehearsals will be scheduled.
Mr. Fairbank has planned two concerts for the Chorus this season: A Continental Christmas, December 2 and 3 and A Royal Feast, April 7 and 8. Both include classic choral works, some of which may seem challenging at first. However, under Mr. Fairbank’s leadership, you may be surprised at the musical heights you will reach personally and as a choral group.
Mr. Fairbank is well-known in the area as a orchestral conductor and choral director and is a faculty member of the Victoria Conservatory of Music.
The Sooke Philharmonic Chorus, founded over 17 years ago, performs with the Sooke Philharmonic Orchestra’s Chamber Players.
