Sooke Fire Rescue Services posted the following on Facebook, after a busy day.
“A busy afternoon for Sooke firefighters saw them stretched from one end of the District to the other.
“An MVI on Sooke Rd at Connie Rd had Engine 1 respond, while an out of control brush fire on Alder Park Terrace just minutes after the MVI had Brush 1, Engine 1 (once released from the MVI), and Otter Point Volunteer Fire Department Engine 23 respond to get the fire under control as it quickly advanced toward several structures.
“Even though temperatures are much cooler and the humidity is high, it did not take much for this fire to spread quickly.
“Please be careful everyone.
“Happy Thanksgiving, and a big thank you to the volunteers who left their families and friends to attend these calls.”

Since you’re here, we have a small favour to ask.
At 1.7 million page views over the past year, more people than ever are reading SPN. We had hoped advertising local services and events would sustain this service, but that has not come to pass. Advertising revenues are falling; status quo is unsustainable. Readers, please consider a small monthly donation. This can help secure the future of SPN. Business owners: Please consider an ad. More than massive local exposure, you will also be affiliated with an independent business that is 100% local, 99% paperless, and highly valued by the 98%. That’s priceless.
