Environment Canada has issued a “Stong Winds” warning for Greater Victoria. Looking at the “windy” weather tool on the SPN Weather page (pictured above, click to view), Sooke seems to be somewhat shielded.
Southeast winds of 70 km/h are expected for Greater Victoria near Haro Strait and exposed coastal sections of East Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast this evening.
A frontal system will approach the BC Coast this afternoon and will cross Vancouver Island this evening. Ahead of the front, strong southeasterly winds will develop over Haro Strait and the Strait of Georgia. Winds will peak early this evening and will ease near midnight.
High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.
