From their website:
The Sooke Fine Arts Show is a regional exhibition of fine art showcasing 375 works of original, west coast art by artists on Vancouver Island and the surrounding BC coastal islands. Set in a 17,000-square-foot temporary gallery within the SEAPARC Leisure Complex in the seaside town of Sooke, BC, it is the largest juried event in the region to represent Island artists, attracting more than 8000 visitors, tourists and art patrons throughout its 11-day run. The show is an important means of drawing attention to the distinct artistic talent on the coastal islands and their contribution to Canada’s artistic heritage.
In addition to the exhibition of art, the show features special events and programs to engaging visitors of all ages with art and to connect them with the artists, fostering an appreciation of the arts and encouraging a hands-on engagement with the many artistic techniques on exhibit in the gallery. The Society endeavours to create an accessible experience while maintaining the highest quality of presentation.
Special events include a Purchaser’s Preview Evening, Artist Celebration gala, live artist demonstrations, talks and music daily, as well as children’s, youth and senior’s programs, including a Youth Art Gallery adjacent to the main gallery.
