BC SPCA urges B.C. veterinarians to ban feline declawing — 4 Comments

  1. Can’t believe it is even a question! Everyone all up in arms about cropping of ears and docking of tails on dogs, which really is unnecessary pain and suffering, but nothing compared to removing the ends of all 10 toes! Unbelievable that there is a vet out there who thinks this is OK! Oh yeah, I forgot, they all need money. While we’re at it, how about we also abolish the taking of dogs vocal chords!

  2. Yes! This is such a barbaric practice. You are amputating part of the cats toes, and the practice can lead to behavioral issues and significant pain or discomfort for the cat.

If you don’t like the claws, don’t get a cat. Trim the claws yourself, or get some cat claw covers if you’re so concerned.

Declawing should’ve been banned a long time ago.

  3. Yes it should be stopped long ago it’s cruel and barbaric to declaw cats I still don’t understand the need to do such a thing. I have had cats all my life and never found a need or had a reason to have such a procedure done. Please sign petition when you see it thanks in advance.

  4. I still can’t believe that people will be so cruel and have thus done to cats! It’s the most painful procedure for the animal! And not to mention unfair for them to help with balance and every day to day need to help them jump and land…even if they are house cats. And… if ever there is a chance they get loose, they are 100% helpless
