ORIGINAL ARTICLE, posted April 8, 2016, 2:51 p.m.: After a highly successful CHILLIWACK show at the Sooke Community Theatre on March 12th in support of Sooke Crisis Centre and EMCS Society, WAM Productions is pleased to announce a new music event for Saturday, May 7th at the Sooke Community Hall, 2037 Shields Road, Sooke, BC. The event will be a “booze-less blues event” and is open to all ages.
Feature performer for the event will be Juno and Maples Blues Award nominee BILL JOHNSON BLUES BAND. The band will be performing music from their brand new CD, Cold Outside, which was recorded at Joby Baker’s studio. Joby is an award winning musician and producer.
Opening for Bill will be BOZ & FRIENDS. ‘Boz’ is Phil Rossner, a long-time guitarist, singer and songwriter (“Great guitar playing” – Bill Henderson (Chilliwack)). Phil is also the event producer for WAM Productions. Joining Phil will be Martin Matychuk on bass and Jeff Germain (Queen City Kids) on drums. Very special guests are Shakey Reay Suter – one of Canada’s foremost blues harp players and Norm MacPherson – a prodigious talent on guitar (David Foster, Valdy) and one of Phil’s very first guitar influences.
