Concepts revealed for future McKenzie Interchange
A wide range of interchange options have been assessed. The three options below were determined to meet our goals of increasing safety, reducing congestion and improving reliability.
All three of the design options have different considerations, including:
- Parks and green spaces
- Schools and athletic fields
- Existing communities and access to these areas
- Adjacent property owners
- Environmentally-sensitive areas including Colquitz Creek and Portage Inlet
The project team is interested in your feedback regarding the three options, including whether there are additional considerations that you would like the project team to be aware of prior to finalizing a design option.
You can download a PDF with the 3 options in one document or click on each of the images below:
Option 1: Diamond Interchange with Trans-Canada Hwy Under McKenzie/Admirals
Option 2: Partial Cloverleaf with Trans-Canada Under McKenzie/Admirals
Option 3: Diamond Interchange with Trans-Canada Over McKenzie/Admirals
Next steps are to:
- Consider input from the public, stakeholder groups and First Nations
- Select the interchange design option
- Complete more detailed design to determine:
- Details of roadways and structures
- Locations of transit stops
- Design of pedestrian facilities crossing TCH and McKenzie Avenue
- Potential property and environmental effects and appropriate mitigation measures
- Provide opportunity for public input on functional design in spring 2016

Could just save money and use the same plans from the Helmcken overpass.
You’re thinking too logically, man – that would make it look like they didnt invent the bestist overpass ever. Cant give respect to guys behind you for efficiency! Duh
You’re so right. Lets reinvent the wheel. Lol
