Budget 2016 Consultations[sam id=”15″ codes=”true”]Each fall, the Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services holds province-wide public consultations on the next provincial budget. Pursuant to the Budget Transparency and Accountability Act [SBC 2000] Chapter 23, the consultations begin in September with the release of the Budget 2016 Consultation Paper (PDF) by the Minister of Finance.
British Columbians are invited to participate by:
- Attend a community public hearing
- Send a written, audio, or video submission
- Complete an online survey
The deadline for submissions is midnight Thursday, October 15, 2015.
The Committee is required to report on the results of the consultation process by November 15, 2015.

The all-party Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services has launched its public consultations on the next provincial budget. The consultations are based on the Budget 2016 Consultation Paper released by the Minister of Finance.[sam id=”15″ codes=”true”]British Columbians are again invited to participate this year by presenting at a community public hearing in person, via conference call or by videoconference; making a written submission; sending an audio or video file; or completing an online survey. This year’s consultations have been adapted to accommodate the fall sitting of the Legislative Assembly, which begins September 28, 2015.
“The consultation process provides an important opportunity for British Columbians to provide feedback that can help shape the budget-making process,” said committee chair Wm. Scott Hamilton. “The committee will issue a report to the Legislative Assembly in November containing recommendations for Budget 2016, based on the submissions collected through the consultation process,” added deputy chair Carole James.

The public consultations on the provincial budget are held annually in accordance with the Budget Transparency and Accountability Act. The committee must release a report on the results of its consultations by November 15, 2015.
