The following was released by the District of Sooke today.
[sam id=”15″ codes=”true”]The District of Sooke and members of CUPE Local 374 have ratified a five year Collective Agreement for the period of January 1, 2014 – December 31, 2018. The previous collective agreement expired December 31, 2013. The Agreement includes wage improvements of 5% over the five year term. Employees will receive increases of 1% January 1, 2016, 1% on January 1, 2017, 1% on July 1, 2017, 1% on January 1, 2018 and 1% on July 1, 2018. The agreement also includes changes in contract language that provide greater clarification and certainty for both the District and the Union moving forward.
“Mayor and Council are pleased to have a new five year agreement that will continue to foster a positive working relationship with our unionized employees,” said Mayor Maja Tait. “This agreement reflects a commitment to fiscal responsibility and the long term financial sustainability of the organization.”
CUPE Local 374 represents approximately 20 employees employed by the District of Sooke, who provide a wide variety of municipal services.
