  1. Not sure when burying power cables will be seen as the sensible thing to do in the longer term, you know, the way most of Europe does. Hanging high voltage power cables from wooden poles along the roadside is archaic, and dangerous to say the least.

    It’s certainly not cheap to maintain either!

    • In the past two years I was in France and Ireland and both of these countries had power lines on wooden poles. Its not as universal in Europe as some people suggest.

      While I generally agree that more underground services would be nice, it is also very expensive. Hopefully as new road services, etc are added so will more underground services.

    • Most of the new subdivisions (kettle creek, westhills etc) are all power underground. You will notice there’s no power lines etc. And most of downtown was fitted for underground power in the 80s but it was all lead so now they are having to replace it all. I used to work with a hydro underground crew 🙂
