The Edward Milne Community School Leadership Program is happy to once again host the fifth-annual 10,000 Tonight Holiday Food Drive, running on Wednesday, December 11th from 5-9 pm.
This drive provides much-needed support to the local food bank. Five years ago at the start of this event, the goal was to collect 10 000 non-perishable items in one single night. This past school year at the 2018 winter food drive EMCS collected 16,000 items. This year they plan to raise the bar even higher and beat their last year’s record.
The entire EMCS community is excited about this massive, community-based event, and are reaching out to the public in order to ensure the success of this year’s 10,000 Tonight. This year, EMCS has a particular need for driver volunteers, along with donations of non-perishable items.
All early donations can be dropped off from now until December 11th in the EMCS front office, SEAPARC, or the Stick in the Mud Coffee Shop. Donations dropped off on the night of the event can be brought to the EMCS foyer. Cash donation tins can be found at Village Foods, Serious Cofee and Western Foods. All food and other donations collected through EMCS will be going to support the Sooke Food Bank, which supports families from East Sooke to Port Renfrew.
If you are not able to get to a donation box, EMCS Leadership students will also be canvassing many Sooke neighborhoods on the night of the event, in hopes of making our goal of 10,000 a reality!
