It’s that time of year again, where the holiday spirit runs amok and you can make a vitally important difference for the people in your community. It’s time for 10,000 Tonight! The annual event hosted at Edward Milne Community School, along with Belmont and Royal Bay, every December when the Food Banks need the most help.
“It’s an amazing event that is great for the community,” says a volunteer for 2017’s 10,000 Tonight event, “and it’s wonderful to see so many people coming to support others.”
From 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on the 12th of December this year, 2018, you can make someone’s holidays even better by donating non-perishable food items that will stock the shelves at the local food bank for each participating school. And if you can’t donate at EMCS on the twelfth, there are multiple other opportunities for you to contribute over the holidays as there will be other food donation stations all around Sooke waiting for you to come and donate.
With the friendly competition between the three schools, EMCS, Belmont, and Royal Bay, the number of food items collected each year rises, along with the help of the increased popularity and knowledge of the event, and if the communities continue working, 10,000 Tonight will one day become 15,000 Tonight and so on.
So why not come out to support your community this December and make these holidays a season to remember?
