The Sheringham Point Lighthouse Preservation Society today announced a new and updated Photo Contest open to everyone who has a camera, phone or iPad or other device.
The Sheringham Point Lighthouse Preservation Society established in 2003, is responsible for the Canadian Lighthouse Heritage Site at Sheringham Point. The Society recognizes the iconic lighthouse is a favourite subject for photographers from around Canada, the USA and the World – and the Photo Contest, Light Up 2021!,was born
The Society volunteers want you to help share the heritage site with the world by winning a spot in the 2022 Calendar. The contest is simple—enter and invite your friends and family to donate in support of your amazing photograph. The thirteen (13) most dynamic photographs with the most votes on April 17th, 2021 will win a spot in the 2022 Sheringham Point Lighthouse Preservation Society Calendar and there are lots of other prizes too.
“We’ve seen hundreds of beautifully crafted photos sent via the internet over the 7 years the site has been open to the public,” Society VP John Walls commented. “We want to recognize some of the best photos. We will create a calendar with all the winning shots.”
Walls continued, “Photos can be created in your backyard; a photo created from your artwork; a likeness of the site or tower; a new or older photo of the tower, lantern room or all the site buildings – or any creative way to highlight the beauty, majesty and iconic history of the Sheringham Point Heritage site.”
Photographs may show fun and interesting scenes of a lighthouse (real or re-created), lighthouse life, natural lighthouse habitat and adaptations of what a lighthouse might look like from different perspectives or in the future.
Society Volunteers welcome any and all photos that qualify under the published rules.
