Harmony Project Sooke (HPS) begins its fall program this week! Two classes in Drumline (marching band style drumming), and three classes in Strings (violin, viola, cello) will be offered. All meet at Journey Middle School.
HPS is a registered non-profit society that provides musical instruments and instruction to children and youth in the Sooke area.
This fall HPS particularly invites students in Grades 6 and up to join the Drumline, which will meet on Monday and Thursday afternoons. The teaching team of Chris Rivollier and Alex Mold hope to build a big enough Drumline to qualify for new opportunities such as performing at sporting events like at the Victoria Shamrocks lacrosse games.
HPS Strings classes, meanwhile, have expanded to three levels, for students in grades two and up. Teacher Advisor, Anne McDougall, and new Lead String Teacher, Maria Wang look forward to a great year for returning and new students.
“Many special opportunities are planned for the year, including concerts and competitions both locally and further afield!” states Executive Director Lorna Bjorklund. For more info and to register, please contact Lorna at sookeharmonyproject@shaw.ca 250-642-6681.
HPS acknowledges the critical financial support it has received from major sponsors such as the District of Sooke, Victoria Foundation, MusiCounts and TD Bank, and Telus. The Society is also extremely grateful for generous donations and in-kind support from many local individuals and businesses.
