If you are seeking the thrill of wilderness adventure without the costs and travel times usually associated, we may have something for you! Come out to Sooke on Saturday, August 20th to soak in the summer rays and scenic vistas at the inaugural Sooke Harbour Festival!
Hosted by the EMCS Society at the Ed Mcgregor Park Boardwalk, this day will be centered around two separate stand up paddle board and kayak races while celebrating the unparalleled beauty of our incredible Island.
The kayak race will span approximately seven kilometers from Coopers Cove, through the Sooke Basin, to a finish line located adjacent to the Boardwalk. The second portion of the event will consist of a stand-up paddle board race that will follow a buoyed route within the Harbour. From the weekend warriors to the expedition ready racers, every person of every skill is welcome.
Apart from serving as a viewing platform for our race, the boardwalk will play host to a number of attractions. These will include live music, interactive entertainment, vendors and artisans, food, and most excitingly, a sponsored recreation area where people can come down to try kayaking or stand up paddle boarding for free. This area will be offered by several of our sponsors, and offer instruction and information on their use.
