Just a short note to say that the Sooke Lake Reservoir is still over 80 per cent, and according to the latest watering schedule put out by the CRD (July 7), we are still at Stage One. On July 16, the water level was 184.42 metres, or 82 per cent full.
[sam id=”15″ codes=”true”]Yes, it is true, Vancouver — and indeed much of the Coast region — is experiencing record droughts. That Vancouver is at Stage 3 is all over the news these days. From the metro Vancouver water website (referenced below), you can see that their water supply depends on snow melt and rain run off. This winter there was relatively little snow in those areas, so the melt and run off is impacted.
In the Capital Regional District, however, our reservoir depends on rainfall, and capacity was reached over the winter months.
It would appear that sitting on the edge of a rain forest does have its advantages.
