The time has come to start anew.
When I purchased “La Petite Boutique” last July, I loved the name, the big windows, large space, but most of all, for the first time in a long time, I loved the prospect of being my own boss.
When you get to know me you will see that I have, like so many people, have worn so many hats in my life. From a long distance operator, make-up artist, to secretary, receptionist, sales person, nail tech, interior designer and I think there’s a few more in there! Most of these have a common denominator. They were, for the most part, working with women, helping and striving to connect on a more personal level.
Last July, I took over the La Petite Boutique, a store that had quite a unique flair. The former owner purchased clothing in the States, some things were from Australia from her trips there, and then there were “pre-loved” pieces. I sold a good portion of the inventory all summer; by fall, after the Canadian dollar dropped significantly, it didn’t make sense to buy in the States. I wanted to do something different.
So, I brought from two Canadian lines, MinKas and Papillon. These lines were a hit! The easy wear-ability and good-price-point carried me through Christmas. In the New Year I brought in Joseph Ribkoff and also lots of leggings and cool tops to wear with them.
I am slowly transforming the Boutique and constantly introducing new and interesting lines to Sooke. It has been wonderful getting to know people here, the welcome was overwhelming and the continued support has been great.
Although I love the name “La Petite Boutique,” I want to brand my store and make it my own. I have decided to call it “Carolyn’s Boutique”! Simple but personal. I hope you like it.
The Grand Opening will be Wednesday, June 1st. Please come by and bring your friends and see what all the buzz is about! There’ll be a bit of bubbly, some delectable treats, and a celebratory 20% discount, so don’t miss it!
I look forward to a long and prosperous business here in Sooke. To give back and to say “Thank you for your support,” I have decided to have a collection for the Food Bank and to donate 10% of all sales on Wednesday to the Food Bank.
See you all on Wednesday, June 1st!
Carolyn’s Boutique, located at 6707 Westcoast Road (formerly known as La Petite Boutique).
