Letter: No need to panic purchase gas, its shortage is rumoured not real

I live on the border between Sooke and Metchosin now, previously in Sooke proper. My wife of 12yrs works as a TCP for a company that maintains the highways of the South Island.
The “gas shortage” is an illusion.
Tues Nov 16 at 7pm the Malahat was closed TEMPORARILY so it could be worked on safely. Fuel tankers have been able to reach Victoria from Nanaimo virtually all day.
There may have been a few deliveries canceled overnight or early today but we aren’t running out of gas.
This is toilet paper panic all over again.
No need to line up and block the streets. Calm down and go home.
Cheers,
Matt M.
Or buy an electric car and get out of the whole fossil fuel rat race that is destroying our planet.
the carbon foot print of the production of an electric vehicle is equal to driving a mid sized fossil fuel vehicle for 6 years. 20 lb plus rare earth in each EV. so other than feeling smug, you just choose to release carbon in a shorter period of time. Also China controls 85 percent of available rare earth.
