LETTER: Quiet and possibly expensive policy shift happening at Sooke’s Municipal Hall — 5 Comments

  1. The city should have been operating the public boat launch from the beginning and not allowing any privatization of a tax funded project to benefit anyone else but the city. Now maybe the city can start recouping some of the 2 million it cost to build…not some private citizen.

    • install a ticket vending machine at the dock. Launching fees based on a daily fixed charge. When boat is launched get required ticket from vending machine and place on dashboard of vehicle, same as parking meters. Spot checks with By Law enforcement with violation ticket to any parked vehicle with empty boat trailer in vicinity of launch. All profit.

  2. Is this the Mr. Martin that has been getting $20,000 a year for keeping the books at the Sooke boat launch? Getting rid of him is the best money saving idea. How did he get this freebie job anyway? Now he can go back to harassing council about getting 4×4 off road access to our parks again!
We have been telling Staff that we need a Public Works dept. for years to look after things like the boat launch and District maintenance. Time to hire some

  3. and Terence, don’t be taken in by Kevin Pearson, he is being quiet and staying out of the limelight, saying what people want to hear – i will wager you $5 he is political setting himself up for a run as the next mayor!?

he is playing politics; will you accept my wager? 🙂
