Sooke Detachment are investigating the illegal dumping of what appears to be asbestos waste. Two dump sites were reported on October 30th and November 26th. Both locations are on the Beecher Bay First Nations Land off of East Sooke Road.
Clearly the bags of asbestos were professionally removed and sent for disposal.
The bags are being analysed during the course of this investigation. Inside one of the bags analysed is a piece of linoleum tile. The investigators are hopeful that a member of the public may recognize this distinctive linoleum tile pattern and be able to provide information on this crime.
“Proper disposal of asbestos is expensive, clearly someone is trying to save money and discard this at roadside, endangering the environment and the public. Anyone having information may contact Sooke Detachment at 250-642-5241, or Crimestoppers 1-800-222-8477” said S/Sgt. Jeff McArthur of Sooke Detachment.
