Luxton Spring Fair Continues; Rodeo Cancelled
The rodeo is cancelled but the spring fair and its associated events will continue. The dates (May 15 – 18) have been added on to our Calendar, which also includes links to the events and times/dates.
Following is the press release issued by the volunteer Rodeo Managers, Sandy West & Charlie Price, issued on February 8, 2015.
After 39 years the Luxton Pro-Rodeo Committee has decided to cancel the popular Luxton Pro Rodeo; however the fair will continue with Sat. night Country Dance, West Coast Amusement Rides, Heritage Displays, Antiques Farm Equipment, VI Blacksmith, Vendors, etc.
[sam id=”5″ codes=”true”]Due to increasing costs, many due to living on an Island; The Luxton Pro-Rodeo Committee has decided the Luxton Pro-Rodeo Event is no longer economically viable. In order to continue to operate, there would have to be a substantial gate fee increase. We do not wish to put this burden on the public. On the positive side the fair has much to offer and will continue to be the May Long Weekend Annual Spring event, sponsored by the Metchosin Farmers’ Institute.
The Luxton Pro-Rodeo Committee would like to thank the public over the years with their phenomenal attendance, the support from community and businesses, the excellent stock contractors, the cowboys and cowgirls; and we would like to deeply thank our many volunteers for their continued help and knowledge in animal husbandry bringing annually an excellent well organized rodeo at Luxton.
Volunteer Rodeo Managers,
Sandy West & Charlie Price
