Friday Night at 11:45 PM Sooke RCMP conducted a vehicle check on a black Ford Escort in Sooke. Located in a back seat was Branden Clifford Stephens, age 35 of Sooke — who was wanted for being unlawfully at large.
A search of Stephens revealed a quantity of GHB (SPN ed: GHB is a “club drug” or a “date rape drug,” for more info see Resources below) and a quantity of cash. Stephens was arrested and processed for six criminal charges, including breach of probation, failing to comply with undertaking (x2), possession of a Controlled Substance (x2) and possession of proceeds of Crime.
At 0315 hours, police received a complaint that a vehicle was on fire. At a church parking lot in Sooke — the car was located fully engulfed in flames. No one was injured in the fire. Sooke Detachment members are investigating.
