When deciding where your advertising dollar should be spent, you need to go to where your customers go, again and again and again. If you are selling in Sooke, you will want your message to be seen and seen and seen by those who live here. Marketing matters.
SPN readership is up
Readership on the Sooke PocketNews (SPN) online newspaper is steadily growing. In October, our pages were viewed 87,862 times (aka “impressions”). In September, we were at just over 70K. Our increased views can be attributed to a growing readership and the introduction of two new content partnerships (Meanwhile in Sooke, and a new Real Estate page). That, and our information is simply relevant on a day-to-day basis.
October ad impressions (hits)
- Banners ads: 84,689 impressions (Sept: 61,265)
- In-Story ads: 61,827 impressions (Sept: 52,281)
- Strip ads: 58,989 impressions (Sept: 44,552)
Those numbers are real: we EXCLUDE impressions from robots, spammers and contributors, and we regularly purge excessive visitors.
We aspire to keep ads meaningful
Ads fund this electronic newspaper, free to the readership. We hope to keep ads local, as we know that those are the most meaningful to our readers. Our ads include events along with local goods and services. Sooke PocketNews ads get seen, time and time again, by residents of Sooke.
The number one strength of ads in Sooke PocketNews is Top-of-Mind Awareness (TOMA). A resident may not sign up for yoga every day, but when a Sooke PocketNews reader is ready to try local yoga classes, we know who they will contact first.[sam_ad id=”59″ codes=”true”]
Currently, Sooke PocketNews has several organizations growing their Top-of-Mind Awareness. Most popular are ads in Real Estate, finances and fitness. And because all ads appear on all pages (vrs. one ad buried on page 17), all ads get seen. Further some ads can be animated, another tool which grabs and holds the readers’ eye.
Advertising gap: Restaurants
In a recent poll, Sooke respondents overwhelming noted that if they knew local dining specials, they would be more inclined to dine locally.
The tourists are gone. Perhaps it’s time to listen to the locals.
If you knew the local restaurants' daily specials, would you be more inclined to dine out, in Sooke?
- Yes (74%, 48 Votes)
- No (26%, 17 Votes)
Total Voters: 65
While Sooke PocketNews does host a Dining page, we currently have no restaurant advertisers. Will anyone answer the call? One diner covers the cost seven days of advertising. One and a half will get you two weeks. If your specials are enticing, if your specials and seen again and again, if you’ve secured Top-of-Mind Awareness for local dining options, imagine what a possible exposure over 80,000 a month can do for your business.
