Sooke Mayor Maja Tait hosted the annual New Year’s Levée at the Chamber Council on the morning of January 1, 2017.
After welcoming the audience (and it was a full house), Mayor Tait spoke to her desire to serve the people of Sooke. Focusing on the positive achievements from the past year, Tait appreciated the improvements to the town’s infrastructure including new roads and sidewalks.
Councillor Brenda Parkinson, who organized the affair, was there with fellow Councillors Kerrie Reay and Kevin Pearson. For more information on the background of the Levée in Sooke, visit here.
Entertainment was provided by students from the Harmony Project (Strings and Drumline), and the Beatniqs. Light refreshments were served by Members of the Sooke District Lioness Club.
