On February 6th, 2019 members of the Sooke RCMP assisted members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Military Police in the execution of a Search Warrant in the 1600 block of Connie Road in Sooke, resulting in the arrest of Alexander Taylor.
The investigation stems from a break-in to a Recreational Vehicle compound located on CAF property on January 10th, 2019 in Colwood. The compound, and 18 recreational vehicles stored there were broken into and a significant amount of personal items were stolen.
A 34 year old male, Alexander Taylor, a resident of a cabin at the Connie Road address, was arrested on execution of the search warrant.
Located in the cabin was a quantity of methamphetamine, an assault rifle, a sawed-off shotgun, brass knuckles, ammunition and magazines. The majority of the stolen property being sought in this search warrant was located in and around a trailer nearby the cabin.
Taylor is charged with:
- Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
- Unsafe Storage of Firearms
- Breach of Recognizance
- Possession of Firearms while Prohibited
Other charges with respect to the stolen property, firearms and methamphetamine are pending. The matter remains under investigation.
At the time of this release Taylor remains in custody, and is scheduled to next appear in Colwood Provincial court on March 7th, 2019.
