Obituary: Jane Jowett, August 4 1956 to April 4 2018 — 4 Comments

  1. So sorry to hear of Jane’s passing, she was so much fun to work with and was a great tutor for my kids. RIP Jane, you sure fought the good fight ❤️

  2. So sorry to hear Jane is not with us any more. I new her as a tutor and a neighbour to my son… She is much admired for her love of everyone and everything…she loved Sooke. Marlene

  3. I also grew up with Jane as a child. We were a close knit group of friends and always had fun. She was such a nice person. My sympathy to her family on their loss.

  4. For all of you that missed her Celebration of Life – I would like to pass on some of the moments that were shared by both her ‘blood family’ and by her ‘Sooke Family’.

Saturday was a pot luck in the true sense of a ‘Jane time’. Everyone brought amazing food and shared some of our times with Jane. It was such a comfortable time – as if Jane were there with her arms wrapped around us all.

Sunday was spent with family and close friends at Lizard Lake. A special place for a special lady. A large campfire – hot dogs – laughter – a nip of Southern Comfort, and a short prayer at the lakeside before spreading her ashes on the water.

There were so many signs of Jane throughout the weekend. At the lake – the ducks swam and flew, I took one of Jane’s favorite flies and just dragged it behind the boat as her daughter spread her ashes. Then we just sat and talked – the three of us. We were quietly talking when my fly rod flew out of the back of the dingy – the last sight of it was it moving quickly away from the boat – with a fish (Janebow) on the other end. I don’t think I have stopped smiling since. As her friends know – she was big on a joke or two or ten. She definitely got the last laugh on (with) me. Then as we all were leaving the lakeside – an eagle flew overhead. The perfect ending for a perfect weekend celebrating the life of our dearest friend Jane. RIP Janey. Love you and certainly are going to miss you.
