Elder Linda Bristol
A Gentle soul.
So proud of who she was.
Sat, wearing woven cedar on her head of silvering grey Cedar taken from a tree
That tree marked forever
As we are marked by knowing her.
Like the cedar tree her roots were strong,
Reaching into the deep rich soil of her culture. Enabling her to
Stand strong in this world,
Linda reached out
Like the branches of the cedar tree
Linda a person at a door
Saying to us,
Come and explore.
Come I’ll help you learn and understand”
All the qualities of a great leader.
Supporting her grandson At Saseenos School
As he and other youth played drums,
Drums of their people.
Linda walked a gentle path
Encouraging the youth
With whom she worked.
Linda walked beyond
To nourish and support
Youth and others
In Different Communities
At times of loss
And at times of Celebration.
Let us in our own ways pay our tribute to Linda’s family and to her Community
For a Great Elder’s Loss.
May her legacy be to continue to educate. We are richer having walked with Linda Bristol, Great educator.
