On February 8th, 2021, at approximately 9:56 p.m. the West Shore RCMP responded to a report of a collision near the 2300 block of Selwyn Drive in Langford.
Officers arrived on the scene and determined that a 2015 Fiat 500 was travelling at a high rate of speed collided with two parked vehicles. One of the vehicles, a Hyundai Elantra was rear-ended while a second parked vehicle, a 2006 Audi A3 was impacted fully. The impact of the collision was so hard that the parked Audi was pushed nearly 30 feet from its position on the roadway onto the front lawn of a nearby residence.
Both vehicles had extensive damage and were towed. The Fiat was uninsured and had 2 occupants, a 31-year-old male driver, and a 41-year-old passenger. Both suffered major injuries and were transported to the hospital.
“The driver was exhibiting symptoms consistent with alcohol impairment,” said Cst. Nancy Saggar, West Shore RCMP Media Relations Officer. “Charges are forthcoming as police are continuing the investigation into impaired driving, dangerous driving causing bodily harm as well as excessive speed and no insurance.”
