Propane leak at the Shell gas station, traffic slow

Sandy Ebbson is the manager at the shell, it is not the large tank that is leaking
Then why r they spraying the big propane tank down with water I was just by there
I can answer that since I’m in the photo. Propane has a fairly low ignition mixture, about 2.2 to 9.5 percent ratio. It is also heavier than air and will pool in low lying areas. The reason for the hose stream is to disapate the leaking propane so it it can’t ignite. But, propane is also cold so if we apply the water directly to the tank it will ice up. So we spray over or around but not directly. If it was on fire the tactics would change.
