–Live Performance in Sooke
On Friday, December 8th at 8pm (doors at 7:30pm) at the Temple Home (1908 Billings Road, Sooke, BC), long-time Sooke-based musician and promoter Phil N Rossner (aka Boz Roz) will be presenting his new one-person show Remembering JOHN, a musical/theatrical presentation of the music and persona of one of the great musical icons of our time – John Lennon.
“It took me a long time to resolve how to effectively present the show” states Rossner. “I’ve been wanting to put together something in this regard for a very long time and have done a couple of shows just featuring Lennon’s music, but I wanted to take it an extra step by adding a theatrical take on the persona of Lennon as well.”
As such, Rossner will be appearing in the first-person as Lennon during the show and will be imparting short introductions for each of the songs that reflect direct quotes from Lennon (implementing the appropriate Liverpool accent), along with reflections on what was happening in Lennon’s personal life at the time.
Rossner adds, “It is my aim to hone this show to a point where I can take it on the road, but I really wanted to present it in my own community first and will be asking if the audience would kindly offer feedback at the conclusion of the show.” He also reflects on the choice of date, “It would have been nice to have had this event on what would have been John’s 77th birthday, but I didn’t have it ready… as such, I decided on making it a kind of memorial for John by having it on the day that he was so tragically taken from us 37 years ago. He was like a musical ‘big brother’ to me and, like so many others, I still carry the sadness that he is no longer with us.”
Tickets (at the door) are on a sliding scale – $10 – $20. Seating and parking at the Temple Home is very limited, so it would be advisable to reserve – firstname.lastname@example.org.
