RCM-SAR Sooke Station will be having an open house next Saturday, August 20 from 10am -5pm in support of the Sooke Harbour Festival, also taking place at the same time.
“Our rescue boat(s) and boat house will be open during the Sooke Harbour Festival and are inviting people to come down between the hours of 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.” invites Jason van der Valk, Coxwain and Station Leader of the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue Sooke unit. “Walk through our boat house, see our equipment and a tour of our Falkins Class 36’ rescue jet boat,”
The RCM-SAR open house will be located at the Government Docks off Maple Ave south. It’s the only large boat house down there; doors will be open.
Come walk through their Falkins Class Rescue Vessel and see the rescue equipment they use. Learn more about what they do. Rescue crew will be on location willing to answer any questions you may have.
“Also, we are doing a recruiting drive at the same time,” adds van der Valk. “It would be a perfect time to ask questions, come down and see what we do and how members of the community might be able to offer their assistance and get involved.”
Kids and families welcome!
Please do not park on the docks, but rather in the upper parking lot area and walk down.
