The Sooke tradition continues! The Sooke Philharmonic will again be putting on a free “pops” concert in Macgregor Park on Sunday, July 8th. See the full event poster below.
This year’s Fling! will cap this wonderful 2017-18 Season that marked 20 years of performing in Sooke since the Orchestra was first founded by Norman Nelson.
Some folk might remember the first free concert that took place as the “Fling on the Flats” that closed the celebrations of All Sooke Day.
This year, the conductor, Michael Klazek is promising a few musical surprises that will harken back to that time and to Sooke’s remarkable logging heritage.
So mark the date in your calendar. Sunday, June 8th.
The concert starts in Macgregor Park at 2:30 PM, the gates open at 1:00 PM. Refreshments will be available from the Harmony Project or you can bring your own snacks.
Entry is free, but also bring along a few loonies or toonies to participate in the 50/50 and the draw for patio chairs contributed by Village Foods.
