The Sooke Folk Music Society is thrilled to announce that Terry Boyle will be the Feature performer for our regular Coffee House, this Saturday May 18, 2019, at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church.
Terry was born in Dublin and as such has a rich background in the musical and literary history of Ireland. He has traveled widely and used his experiences to inform his songwriting. He is therefore adept in many different genres; sometimes his songs bring laughter, sometimes tears. Rest assured he has a song or story for almost any occasion. Terry has spent a lifetime refining his personal style, which he says is still evolving. This is the mark of a true artist. His engaging manner draws the listener in, as if we had just sat down beside him for a cozy chat by the fire.
He has two CD’s to his credit: “Terry Boyle”, his first CD of original songs and “Life’s Too Short” released in November 2018.
We are equally thrilled to be welcoming Ceilidh Briscoe, who will accompany Terry on fiddle. She is a most accomplished player: Five time North American Fiddle Champion and an All-Ireland Fiddle Champion. She studied for six years with the fabulous Brian Conway who won the All Ireland Champion five times. She is proud to have performed in Ireland, the UK, Scandinavia, Germany, China, and across North America with the world renowned “Riverdance”.
Together, Terry and Ceilidh present a dynamic range of songs and tunes in the style of an intimate kitchen concert. Usually exhilarating and free-flowing, sometimes mellow and thoughtful, but always hugely entertaining and engaging, this exciting duo is not to be missed.
