The Sooke Folk Music is delighted to present Stephen Fearing at a concert at the Holy Trinity Church Saturday, April 27th, 2019 at 8:00 PM.
Stephen Fearing was born in Vancouver and raised in Dublin. He has rightly been named as one of Canada’s finest singer-songwriters. He offers a mesmerizing blend of folk, roots and pop to his audiences along with a well honed gift for storytelling. His national and international career has been earned via countless performances in intimate venues, festivals and concert halls as well as major events like the Reading Festival and the Shrewsbury Festiva.
Regardless of the size of the audience, Stephen’s masterful guitar work and engaging performance style combine to present an intimate and moving experience.
He released three solo albums prior to 1996 when he co-founded Canadian super-group Blackie and the Rodeo Kings with Colin Linden and Tom Wilson. For the last 22 years the band is still one of the most respected names in roots/rock music.
Stephen also released two albums with Irish singer Andy White as the duo Fearing and White. He has collaborated with such artists as Bruce Cockburn, Richard Thompson, Roseanne Cash, Sarah McLachlan, Rose Cousins, Murray McLauchlan, Margo Timmins, Keb’ Mo’, Suzie Vinnick and many more.
His musical abilities are likewise reflected in his multiple JUNO and Canadian Folk Music nominations and awards. In 2017 he released and won Worldwide Album of the Year by Blues and Roots radio for his 9th solo album “Every Soul’s a Sailor.” That album also earned him 2017 Contemporary Singer of the Year by the Canadian Folk Music Awards. Just this year he went on to release “The Secret of Climbing” as a limited-edition, vinyl-only album which truly captures the subtle emotions of his mesmerizing voice and masterful guitar work.
You won’t want to miss seeing this world-class performer.
