On Tuesday night at approximately 9pm, JRCC Victoria tasked RCMSAR Station Sooke to a sailing vessel requiring assistance off Otter Point.
A US fishing vessel initially responded to the assistance broadcast and hooked up a tow.
Concerned about bringing the vessel around Whiffin Spit, JRCC tasked Station Sooke to take over the tow and bring the sailing vessel into the Sooke Basin to their moorage.
Crews returned to base late into the evening.
