Home Game vs. Alberni Valley Tier 3
@ Weyerhauser – Alberni
Saturday February 28, 12:30 pm
The Sooke Midget A ice hockey team is playing in the Vancouver Island Finals. The team has split the first two games of a best-of-three series. On Sunday, February 22, the team won in a what was a very exciting, nail-biter of a game, 6-5 over Port Alberni on their home ice in Northern Vancouver Island. This followed a 5-2 loss to Port Alberni on Saturday, February 21 at SEAPARC in Sooke.
Thus, a win this Saturday is crucial in order to advance to the Tier 3 Provincial Championships. Otherwise, its lights out, season over. The team will enjoy home ice advantage at SEAPARC this Saturday the 28th of February as they battle Port Alberni in the final game of the series.
Team players, all of whom were born between the years of 1997 and 1999, include #2 Kyle Berger D, #3 Dallas Brooks D, #30 Max Clouser G, #12 Ty Didmon F, #11 Nin Dougall F, #16 Tyson Friesen F, #14 Jack Kendall F, #19 Dexter Kennedy D, #21 Jaden Lawrence F, #15 Aidan Lindal D, #17 Carter Navarrete F, #1 Shawn Parkinson G, #9 Calija Philp F, Captain #12 Jonah Philip F, #18 Jared Purdy D, #8 Charlie Richardson D, and Aidan Golouch F.
Coaches this year are Kevin Berger (Head Coach), Craig Didmon (Assistant), and Nick Phifer (Assistant). The Team Manager is Bev Berger. Craig Didmon is also the Head Coach of the Victoria Grizzlies Junior A team this year as well.
The team is currently fundraising in order to cover expenses related to travel and lodging for the Provincials in Dawson Creek, British Columbia. And it is expensive! Any contributions from Sooke supporters and residents would be greatly appreciated and are being collected this weekend. Please contact the team manager Bev Berger with any donations.
Residents of Sooke are encouraged to get out and support the Midget team at SEAPARC this Saturday and root them on to the Provincials. Stop by the Stick for a large latte or hot chocolate, and come out and join your fellow residents to root for the boys. The game starts at 12.30 PM. Admission is free.
