The following event is posted on Facebook, and if you are a child born with the skilled assistance of Sooke Midwife Uta (or know someone who was), the invitation extends to you. The details are thus:
September 12th from 11:00am to 3:00pm
In honour of Uta, midwife extraordinaire, a reunion picnic for Uta and her families is planned for September 12 @ Ed Macgregor Park. Please plan to pack your own picnic lunch for your family.
A group photo of Uta with ALL her familes will be taken @ 12:30pm. Please make sure to be onsite by 12:15pm to be included in the group photo.
The cake cutting will take place around 1:00pm. We will also be presenting the “On the Day I Was Born” Birth Stories book at this time.
We are still working towards a community bench in Uta’s honour and will be taking the opportunity to chat with families more about it at the picnic. If you are interested in helping with this project, please feel free to pull me aside at the picnic.[sam id=”15″ codes=”true”]Contributions for cake, photography and the bench can be made at the event on Saturday.
*In an effort to be mindful of environmental concerns, we ask each family to bring their own plate/cutlery for the cake.
