The following is from Environment Canada, issued 2:21 PM PST Thursday 21 January 2021, for Malahat Highway – Goldstream to Mill Bay
Snow is expected Saturday night and Sunday morning for Vancouver Island, Sunshine Coast and Lower Mainland.
A ridge of high pressure over BC will give mainly clear skies and cool conditions until late Saturday. A low-pressure system will move southward along the coast bringing clouds to the area Saturday afternoon. Snow is forecast to begin Saturday night and continue into Sunday. By Sunday afternoon snow will become mixed with rain in many areas.
Potential snowfall amounts vary from 2 to 5 cm for most of the Lower Mainland and Sunshine Coast. Eastern and inland areas of Vancouver Island are most likely to see the highest amounts of snow, with amounts from 5 to 15 cm.
Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.
