There’s a rainfall warning in effect for West Vancouver Island. Expect a prolonged period of heavy rain tonight through Wednesday, ranging anywhere between 100 to 200 mm.
- Locations: Central Coast, North Vancouver Island, and West Coast of Vancouver Island especially north from Tofino including Zeballos and Tahsis.
- Timespan: Rain becoming heavy over the Central Coast and Northern Vancouver Island tonight, then spreading to West Vancouver Island in the early morning hours of Tuesday. Heavy rain will persist through Wednesday.
- Other Risks: Strong southerly winds over exposed coastal sections Tuesday morning.
An atmospheric river will give rain heavy at times over the Central Coast and northern and western sections of Vancouver Island.
Heavy downpours can cause water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Rising freezing levels and snowmelt may contribute to increased runoff.
