LETTER: A toast to the Sooke Harbour Toastmasters — 4 Comments

  1. Toastmasters is a brilliant organization. I have been a member of various clubs in the past, and highly recommend this training to others.

Spunout from a YMCA in California in 1932, the non-profit organization now has over 330,000 members in 15,000 Clubs in 135 countries.

For those not familiar, here is a link https://www.toastmasters.org/
    From above:

“THE MISSION OF THE CLUB. The mission of a Toastmasters club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every individual member has the opportunity to develop oral communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth”

  2. They say that people fear speaking in public more than they fear death.

That means that at a funeral, they’d rather be in the casket than giving the eulogy.

  3. Toastmasters is a great, safe place to learn and grow. The Sooke Harbour Toastmasters Club is also a fun place to learn and grow. I love that club and hope to be back as an active member one day.
