Sooke Brewing Company took home a Bronze for their Gin Bourbon Barrel Aged Saison (Category 52A; Wood and Barrel-Aged Beer, Pale to Amber).
“We aged our Saison in barrels from the Courtenay distillery, Wayward Distillation House,” noted Yari Nielsen, one of the co-owners of Sooke Brewing Co. “It was a small batch, but there are plans in the works to bring it back in the future.”
Nielson also noted that this was Head Brewer John Adair’s third Canadian Beer Award, having won two previously while at another brewery on the island.
“We are very excited to have won an award only six months after opening!” said Neilson. “Proud to bring award winning beer to Sooke!” Sooke Brewery Co. is located at 2057 Otter Point Road, and can be reached by phone 250-642-0106 or online.
Sooke Oceanside Brewery (aka S.O.B.) also won a Bronze medal for their Bear Beach Baltic Porter (Category 8: Baltic Porter).
S.O.B. has been operating in Sooke since 2015. They are located at #1-5529 Sooke Road, and can be reached by phone at 778-352-2739 or by email: email@example.com.

“Founded in 2015, S.O.B. has been a long standing labour of love. You may have heard of us long ago now, but it has taken a lot of recipe development, and planning to arrive at this point, and it has been time well spent! You’re going to love our beers! The tasting room is up and running so come have a flight and say hey.”
