The Sooke River 10K, the third race in the eight race Island Series, will be held on the morning of Sunday, February 5. Starting and finishing at EMCS, the course follows the hills and dips of Sooke River Road as far as the Potholes. The race is expected to attract close to 500 runners from across Vancouver Island, the Lower Mainland and the Gulf Islands.
The Victoria Marathon Society will host the race but it needs local participation to make this event successful. The Sooke RCMP Detachment has already agreed to assist with traffic management.
Please consider helping out on the morning of February 5. The Sooke River 10K raises the profile of our community and provides an opportunity to meet new and interesting people. It is a fun event, with some dandy refreshments will be served after the race.
Perhaps you would rather run than volunteer – that would also be great!
If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Mark Ziegler by phone 250-642-5784 or by email.
To ensure you are included in their volunteer headcount, please respond by January 20, although if needed they will be receiving applications until January 27.
